YOUNG BROADCASTERS

Work with broadcasters from the industry, learn how to create and edit a podcast, interview guests and work towards hosting a radio show.  All equipment provided, just bring your best radio voice!

Our broadcast sessions take place on Thursday nights at the following times:

Juniors (8-12 years old): 6 - 7pm

Seniors (12-18 years old): 7.15 - 8.15pm

The session is held at our purpose-built studio in our state of the art premises, on Coombe Street, in the heart of Exeter.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
Our Young Broadcasters course teaches students the essentials of podcasting, from idea development to final production. Each session is engaging and encourages creativity while building practical media skills. Here’s what students can expect:

Podcast Planning & Concept Development

Learn how to brainstorm topics, identify an audience, and outline engaging episodes.

Interviewing & Scriptwriting Skills

Develop techniques for interviewing and scriptwriting to keep each podcast organised and professional.

Audio Recording Techniques

Training in microphone use, sound levels, and tips for capturing quality audio.

Editing & Production

Basics of editing software to cut, organize, and polish recordings into final episodes.

Each session aims to build confidence, encourage curiosity, and help students express their ideas creatively. By the end of the course, they’ll have produced their own series of podcast episodes and gained valuable skills they can apply to future projects.

COURSE LEADER

Our Young Broadcaster sessions are led by Joe Antonio.

Graduating from Bangor University in 2014 with a BA in Music/Spanish, Joe teaches the piano and the drums. He also produces high-quality music productions for commercial events agencies and, of course, several podcasts.“I’ve always enjoyed getting into the studio and exploring sound design, with so many genres of music influencing me over the years … I love how music unites us all”.
